Cookie Policy
Last updated: July 26, 2026
Cookies and similar browser storage remember security and privacy choices and, only when allowed, activate YouTube media or analytics.
Strictly necessary storage
sim_auth_guest is an HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax security cookie lasting up to 24 hours for logged-out form protection. WordPress login cookies normally last for the browsing session or, when Remember me is selected, up to 14 days. sim_village_consent_v1 keeps the Media and Analytics choices in local storage for up to about 180 days. sim_village_consent_session_v1 records only that the privacy banner was answered during the current browser session, so the banner can appear again in a new session without changing the saved category choices.
Functional local storage
sim_person_focal_v3_[video ID] stores only the calculated horizontal and vertical crop position for a YouTube preview image. It avoids repeating the same on-device person-centering analysis and remains until browser storage is cleared. Short-lived session values may also remember whether the seasonal menu was dismissed and the direction of a seasonal page transition. These values are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
YouTube media
Players remain unloaded until YouTube Media is enabled in Cookie settings. Selecting a blocked video or Short opens those settings without starting playback. Once a player loads, Google/YouTube may use cookies, local storage, IP address and interaction signals. Turning Media off prevents future player loading here; existing Google storage must be removed through browser or Google controls. Preview images are ordinary remote images from i.ytimg.com and can send request data to Google before Media is enabled; they are not controlled by the player setting.
Analytics
Google Analytics 4 loads only when a valid Measurement ID is configured and Analytics is allowed. Google may then set identifiers such as _ga to distinguish browsers and measure visits. Exact names and lifetimes are controlled by the configured Google property and Google's current service settings.
Advertising
Advertising is currently unavailable in Cookie settings, so Google AdSense code remains blocked even if placement IDs have been prepared. Before activation, final provider and cookie details must be added and a compliant advertising-consent system must be installed. Where Google requires it for AdSense traffic in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, this must include a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the applicable IAB Transparency and Consent Framework.
Change or withdraw your choice
Use Cookie settings in the footer to accept or reject Media and Analytics separately. Rejecting optional categories does not block text, account security or navigation, but YouTube players remain unavailable. Browser controls may also remove cookies and local storage. The banner is acknowledged for one browser session and appears again in a new session; the saved category choices remain until changed, cleared or approximately 180 days old.
