Their Life Is Far from Civilization, Grandpa Carries Heavy Groceries Across the Mountains
About this episode
Grandpa walks across steep mountain roads to gather fresh ingredients for outdoor cooking, where every step of the journey becomes real wild food prep, every meal is built through practical camp kitchen skills, every recipe reflects minimalist camping meals, and every tradition celebrates authentic nature cooking in a remote Azerbaijani mountain village. The day begins with Grandpa sleeping beneath a tree in the village gazebo until Grandma calls him from the window. He wakes up, washes with ice-cold mountain water, takes the cows high into the mountains, returns home, changes clothes, and prepares for another difficult walk to the village market. Carrying only a basket and an umbrella, Grandpa follows the same rugged mountain road featured in our most popular village journey. Surrounded by lush summer greenery, he walks for hours to reach the small village shop, carefully chooses fresh meat, vegetables, dairy products, herbs, and other essential ingredients, then carries the heavy grocery bag all the way back up the steep mountain road to their isolated home. Once Grandpa returns, Grandma begins the complete food preparation process using fresh village ingredients. Every stage of cooking from scratch is shown naturally, from preparing homemade dairy and washing fresh vegetables to cutting meat, mixing ingredients, and slowly cooking authentic Azerbaijani turshu kebab over traditional fire. Unlike modern kitchens, every meal is prepared with simple village tools, traditional techniques, and years of experience. The entire process demonstrates genuine mountain life, where daily cooking depends on patience, hard work, and family cooperation rather than convenience. Fresh bread from the tandoor, homemade dairy, juicy watermelon, and traditional turshu kebab complete the family table. After a long day of walking through the mountains, carrying heavy groceries, and preparing everything by hand, Grandpa and Grandma enjoy another peaceful evening surrounded by nature.
